64 - There was an attempt.
In this latest episode, Jordan tries to update everybody on what’s been happening with him in the last week, the problems of social media, and LIVE SPORTS BABY!
Also, also, a chat about Game Jorurnalism, Media Critique and a few shout-outs!
WHATS JORDAN BEEN LOOKING AT
JETLAG: THE GAME available at nebula - https://nebula.tv/jetlag. It is also a really cool youtube series available here where two teams of friends try and challenge themselves around the world.
GUYS: A PODCAST ABOUT GUYS available where podcasts are available Bryan Quinby and Chris James are joined by guests as they go through the cultural anthropology of, well, guys. Mostly an expose of people who take consumption as an identity a LITTLE too personally, the jokes and commentaries are hilarious. Everything from people who keep Reptiles as Pets, to Crossfit guys, to Warhammer is discussed.
QUORATORS available here - a podcast looking at the most bizarre Quora questions imaginable. While it’s very easy for hacks to just do Yahoo Answers or Reddit to riff on bizarre questions, there is only one place in the world that dares question the race of Gohan from the Dragonball series. Hosted by Alex Ptak and Jeremy Kaplowitz (both funny friends of mine!)
PODCAST THE RIDE did a BIG VEGAS GROOVE BLENDER talking about The Sphere, but also the big history of “America’s Theme Park” and it’s sleezy overtones. The “Second Gate” on Patreon talks about Meow Wolf’s OmegaMart, and that was REALLY EXCITING STUFF
CHEAP SHOW - https://www.thecheapshow.co.uk/ is the economy comedy podcast based on stuff that’s available on Discount, from snacks in convienience stores, to poundland to dollar stores or even things in America like Five Below, they really go through everything, and my favorite ones in recent history go through some really niche game show games. ENJOY THE PRICE OF SHITE
And while I did not discuss it on this week’s episode - Under Consoletation did review Charlie Brooker’s Gameswipe and as somebody who really loved Charlie Brooker’s writing even in High School, it’s great seeing Luke and Ash cover the vast history of UK Gaming Shows besides Gamesmaster and spent time talking about this in the longest episode of their podcast, ever. It was well worth it, for the revisit and seeing what held up, what didn’t hold up, and what was gaming like in the 2010s… oh god i’m old.
