Internet Game Shows
The internet is a very fast place with, everything being content. Rather it’s weirdos on facebook telling people to spin a wheel and “they’ll double if they follow them" to tiktok videos of people doing Mr Beast challenges, all the way to the really horrifying YouTube Drama, Obnoxious Twitch Streams, and Boring Podcasts like the one here today.
Game Shows are a notorious “cheap entertainment” vessel on television, but as the switch over to streamers becomes prevalent - the million dollar question is “will they survive?”
While it’s still too early to answer that question, as Paramount Plus, Peacock, and Hulu all have game shows in their library. New Formats will be really tough to break into… unless of course, you do it yourself.
IN THIS EPISODE…
Four Game Shows are available on YouTube AND on their respective streaming service. All of which, I give my “Jordan Seal of Approval” for “Actually Good Internet Content”, and, through all this turmoil with studios, and heartbreaks in my own personal lives, gives me, just a glimmer of hope, that everything COULD be okay.
JET LAG : THE GAME - a “reality competition” series where a group of friends compete against each other by using the globe as a life-size board game, to play tag, to circumnavigate, or to just make decision points around every corner.

GAME CHANGER - A comedy game show where the contestants don’t know exactly what they signed up for, the only way to learn is by playing, the only way to win is by learning, and the only way to begin is by beginning. Hosted by Sam Reich.
UM ACTUALLY - A Nerdy Quiz Game that also is a nerdy panel game, as three contestants try to correct the errors of Mike Trapp, and learn a thing or two about the world of popular culture. It even has a board game for you to get into disagreements with! Excitebike-cior!
DIRTY LAUNDRY - The Panel Game Show of Deep Dark Secrets. Host Lily Du and Bartender Grant O’Brien forces 4 strangers to spill their dirty little secrets, as they all guess who did what, and what the hell they are drinking, exactly.
Please give all these shows a try, you’ll be glad you did. It’s really tough for a game show to make it out of pilot stage, let alone to get full on shows, but before I go, AS A BONUS, here is GAME GARAGE by Tom Scott from a long while back (years even) where he tests game show ideas in his garage with friends.
When it comes to a great game show, sometimes, you don’t need a Netflix-style budget, a big shiny linoleum set, and even a “Big Cash Prize” (even if that prize is $10,000 - GSN!) All you need is a good idea, the effort to coordinate correctly, and a few friends to help along the way.
And if this is a sample of the good game shows created by talented folks today, I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
