April 2024 News Desk
In this episode, Jordan tries to play Catch Up with the Game Show news that happened over the last few months. From GSN Upfronts, to a review of Josh Must Win, to a bookended double frustration-station with the GSN Talk AND “The ESNA Twist”
ALSO, HEY, CHECK OUT QUIZ SHOW EXPO AT THE END OF MAY

Anyway, if you don’t want to listen to the episode, or want a quick TL;DR of everything, here’s all the bullet points.
GSN shows are smart on a business standpoint, but tasteless.
Congrats to Pat Sajak on Finishing Your Story At Wheelamania
60th Anniversary of Jeopardy, our national nightmare of tournaments is over.
ITV is crushing it with fun formats in the works - The Fortune Hotel, The Genius Game and 99 to Beat.
Deal or No Deal Australia is still VERY FUN
Budgets are still important, but please find ways to differentiate.
Throwing money at something does not make it a great show, either
Why is Taskmaster in New York, anyway?
The Travis Kelce Are You Smarter Game Show Mystery
Destination X is a really fun format, I think people will love it, if they love The Traitors, alternate tile “Where the Fuck Are We?”
Beat the Bridge is still fun, GSN Might do good, but weary of a “It’s For Points, Winner Gets $1,000 plays for $10,000”
Taskmaster is still fun, can it hold up?
Game Changer and Jet Lag are still good shows to follow (Forgot to bring up BINGO, which is the new BEST EPISODE)
Jet Lag has a new show coming soon to nebula, feels like Road Rules
Survivor, Big Brother and Amazing Race on saving budgets (and keeping it’s audience)
The Traitors, Hunted, and having “The Big Finale”
Again, Deal or No Deal Island isn’t pleasant to watch, My fave is Aron because he would be the “Josh Must Win” of this series, and just doesn’t want enjoy the social game and alliances.
But Fear Factor and Wipeout might get similar in the works
I guess Wipeout with John Cena and Nicole Byer is cancelled?
I guess Fear Factor needs “Social Experiments” now (aka living in a house)
The main goal of a reality show, is to balance a storyline with a game show, to make it so the audience watching plays along with the challenges/games, but also finds their “fave” and follows their story, but not enough that if they get eliminated, that they stop watching altogether.
While reality-comps are game shows, game shows aren’t reality-comps.
It’s the best time to be a fan of game shows
It’s the worst time to be me, a fan of game shows with a podcast.
Legit considering calling it quits.
