Just Relaxing

Hello, It’s Jordan.

Did you know walls of text are sometimes very hard to write? I kind of did that for like the last week or so. Normally, there would be a good time to really vent out stuff, either the usual “so what am i good at?” sleepy sad slumps, or the venting about all these things I really don’t know about - such as asking the question “are esports just giant hype house competitions?”

I really didn’t know what to write about, and I really wanted to so something since updating all the socials. I really wanted to do something that day but then went “oh, maybe later” then “maybe later still” then there are days where i go “maybe i can talk about video games?” and then, nope, nothing.

It’s like a crossroads between writer’s block and just tired. But it’s all good, I’m hanging in there. Taking it one day at a time. Honestly, it’s just that feeling you get when you watch a youtube video or netflix movie and it’s just this constant loading circle feeling?

Anyway, let’s just get to some of the cooler things going on.

As you can tell from my crown, I’m really big in the video game “Fall Guys”, do i get multiple crowns? Nope, but I think I am pretty alright at the game. I also got some BJs Root Beer, did you know they sell the root beer at their restaurant in bottles? It’s really cool!

Anyway, I also have a Plotzo Plush now. As many people know I really love creative arts, interactive exhibits and places like Meow Wolf have such great immersive experiences that really rethink what “art” should be, from it’s faux supermarket Omega Mart to it’s House of Eternal Return. So I recently just got myself a couple purchases from the Meow Wolf store, just to have a small taste of the fun exhibits, while still stuck at home.

On a personal level, I haven’t yet been vaccinated. No, I do want to get the vaccine. I’m just REALLY picky and also want to go at a time and place when it’s most safe for me. (ie, the time with the least amount of people in line, preferably outdoors). I really hope the FDA approves the vaccines soon, so it might encourage people who are a little hesitant to get the vaccine. From what I’ve heard, it’s been making people REALLY sick for a few days, and unfortunately. I’ve been taking care of my mom, that me being out of commission for even a couple days, is very dangerous. But I have faith, we’re approaching “the normalcy” and hopefully, really soon. I can get a needle shoved into my arm. I also heard they are working on a NASAL SPRAY? Maybe that is the way to go. Wait for the newer options in this weird study.

I honestly, think I just want a big hug, that’s something I really miss.

Besides recording Game Shows, I Suppose on Patreon, and Night Night on Twitch, I’ve also been very busy, over at the G4tv Discord..

Just to answer the quick question - no I do not work for G4tv nor it’s parent company Comcast Spectacor. I am simply just helping out a great television network that meant so much to me growing up, to be this amazing hybrid version for the next generation, and it’s such a great positive place, with funny, talented users every day. I explain more in the video, and it does get a bit personal.

Anyway, it’s time for me to vent out all the stuff I watched and played to end this update.

PEPSI BLUE - I never liked this soda and aside from Nostalgia like Crystal Pepsi, I don’t see the need for it. There are so many flavors of mountain dew that I am sure taste like what “Blue” tastes like. But maybe it’s a good thing to see it return? Who knows. It’s a limited time only.

FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER - I thought it was fine. I didn’t really get amazed by everything. I felt the storyline was sort of like every mainline MCU project with all the quips, but I don’t know why Bucky is Winter Soldier when he was White Wolf or something. As much as I love Bucky Barnes and Winter Soldier (Fave 5 Marvel) of all the shows I encountered, this felt the most like a “webseries” than television show. The clips felt like things that I would watch on ABC for “deleted scenes” similar to that Office Spinoff with the accountants at a time when 320x240 resolution was the best the internet could do. I was not disappointed, but I was not really jumping out of my chair. Episode 6 was the best episode of the season, but at the same time, I don’t really want to see any more marvel, not even Loki. Just feels… over.

KONG VS GODZILLA - I was really impressed with the story, this felt like a movie I would have loved to see in movie theaters with an audience, just having a fun time. It’s not really a movie to really think about, but if I had to be honest - I didn’t really care for the Kong in this movie. And I’ve recently saw a great godzilla movie called Shin Godzilla that I kept thinking about when watching this one. There is no complaints, It’s worth the $15 from HBO Max.

MORTAL KOMBAT - That movie was stupid, but fun stupid. But it took itself very seriously, but the fight choreography was great. Kano was my favorite character in this movie, but I do have to give credit, I am very happy for Lewis Tan in this one. Cole was actually a pretty cool original character that I enjoyed seeing in this movie. To compare it to the 90s Mortal Kombat movie is to compare a different generation of Mortal Kombat fan. I didn’t like the CGI on Goro though, but considering I watched BOTH, it’s like I paid $7.50 so win win?

PARAMOUNT PLUS - Everybody is going through that one “binge” during the pandemic, even as we are approaching the end. Some people it’s “The Office” on Peacock, others are watching The Sopranos, but for me - It’s Double Dare. Yes, Paramount Plus has Double Dare from the 80s, and yes I am sitting through watching all the physical challenges and obstacle courses and a Marc Summers that is my age hosting. On one part, it’s a game show, so it’s a comfort show, on another. It’s just one of my favorites. It is one of those shows where I can sit back, and enjoy for the 20 minutes before returning back to work. Best enjoyed with Lunchables, I find. They also have episodes of GUTS and Legends of the Hidden Temple.

THE ORANGE YEARS - I saw it, and it was fine for a talking head show about early founding of nickelodeon, before “it went corporate” with Spongebob & Dora. There is so many different shows to talk about, and like all “Remember the 90s” things, it felt like it was in the hands of the creator to go with the ones “most fondly remembered”. I learned the magic dust was coffee mate, I also learned Marc Summers knows production, and how to disable microphones. No Roundhouse or Welcome Freshman, but a nod to a really good Nick News special made it absolutely worth it.

THE OSCARS - Honestly, I barely saw any of the nominees this year, ASIDE from the documentary entries, and even then. I wasn’t really pleased that much by the offerings. I nearly fell asleep twice. At one point when they did the Questlove music bit, I just flipped over to the On Cinema Oscars Special to see what the gimmick was, and, it was a ton of fun. Tim & Gregg did a more entertaining look at movies than the awards show. Chadwick barely got any recognition, and Steven Yeun also deserved better. The Academy Awards should not put people to sleep, and if in the middle of a pandemic, the major ad was Swarovski Crystals and Cadillac, which should tell you exactly the audience they expected for the event - not someone making $15 an hour or less. The Oscars always felt like this was always “the serious awards to recognize the talent” , but I honestly forgot everything I saw, which never happens.

POKEMON SNAP - Preordered the new one, can’t wait to play it, Can’t wait to play with it for an hour, get bored, then return after a couple weeks, like I did the original pokemon snap. Pokemon Snap is my favorite Pokemon game, so if I can take photos of jigglypuff, it ultimately redeems itself!

THE CIRCLE - The Circle is still such a great reality show. I love how the show always continues to play into the head games of “is this person really who they say they are” in new and inventive ways. The UK Season wasn’t as good as prior seasons, but still holds up, This Netflix Season is still pretty funny and goofy, but Season 1 was such a great benchmark, it’s tough to beat right now.

WIPEOUT - People are giving their thoughts on the new Wipeout with John Cena and Nicole Byer. I actually like this version alot. The Team Dynamic works well for production, the jokes and comedy of people falling into water is still there. The only issue is the same as it’s been with wipeout seasons of the past - the same course every time. It’s the same issue with Holey Moley. Once you’ve seen somebody slip and fall on the thing, it’s tough to see that every episode without thinking it’s a rerun. Still really enjoyable and very good.

TASKMASTER - Mike Wozniak is a national treasure, and this series of the UK Taskmaster has been really enjoyable. 10 episodes where every week comedians try and outsmart each other in tasks without knowing how others did. Makes for a very funny and enjoyable series. I do like the chemistry with everybody. This feels like a return to the format people know and love. Who doesn’t love a game of “Who can make the best vandalism?”

JEOPARDY - I don’t really want to offer my two cents on all the hosts, some have been good (Aaron, Anderson) others were okay (Katie, Mike) and others just stunk (Dr. Oz). There is still so many hosts left to host, and I’m happy Burton gets to host a week of shows. But it makes me wonder if people will ACTUALLY watch those episodes or is it just a fan suggestion that leads to nothing? I know he can do that show, he has the calm, collected demeanor, and is naturally very funny and charming. But I think when it comes to casting the next co-host, it needs to be somebody that can make the show their own, while still maintaining the speediness of delivering clues, while also playing traffic cop when possible. It’s in the delivery of clues (accents) and in responses (“I’m sorry, no.” “That’s it, Pick Again”) that might be the biggest factor. But I am happy with the rotating hosts so far. Jeopardy is still the ambassador for game shows, and everybody’s input of “you know who would be a great jeopardy host?” is actually a great sign to see all walks of life offer their ideas.
